DefindPrivacy Policy
The Defind app doesn't collect your personal information. It has no account, no advertising and no tracking, and it never sends anything to us. The website works differently, as explained below.
What the app stores
Your game history stays on your device: the puzzles you've played, your guesses, the hints you used and your statistics. It isn't sent to us or to anyone else, and we can't see it.
If you back up your device, the backup may include this history. That backup is yours, and it's handled by the backup service you use.
What we collect
Nothing through the app. That means no name, email address, location, contacts, device identifiers, advertising identifiers or usage data. The app has no analytics and no ads, and it makes no network requests.
Sharing your results
If you tap Share, your device's own sharing options open and you choose where the result goes. The result is the puzzle number and a grid of colored squares, with no answer and nothing that identifies you. The app or service you send it through handles it under its own privacy policy.
Third parties
We don't sell personal information, and the app has none to share.
Apple distributes the app. It may give us aggregated statistics, such as download counts, and crash reports from people who have agreed to share them with developers. We can't identify you from these. Apple's own privacy policy covers what Apple collects.
This website
This section covers defind.app only, not the app. The site has no advertising trackers and doesn't use cookies.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used. It shows us totals such as page views, top pages, referring sites, countries, device types and how quickly pages load. Cloudflare says this tool doesn't use cookies or local storage to collect these metrics, and doesn't fingerprint visitors to display them.
Cloudflare also hosts the site, so it processes IP addresses and other standard connection information to deliver and protect it. Cloudflare's privacy policy explains how it handles this information.
Emailing us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include. We use it only to reply, and we'll delete your messages if you ask.
Deleting your data
To erase your game history, delete the app. Any copy in a device backup stays there until that backup is removed.
Children
Defind isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone of any age.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If Defind ever starts collecting data, this page will say so before that version is released.
